The need to ensure high levels of water purification is central to every medical application handled by Medica filters.
In Dialysis, the use of ultra-pure water obtained from a filter is the basis for the safety of the treatment itself, given that water represents more than 99% of the dialysate; at the same time, since the ultrafilter is installed as the last purification stage before the electromedical equipment, it represents an additional protection that reduces the possibility of contamination within the dialysis centre water loop.
In the case of Dental unit chairs, international scientific literature has long highlighted the risk of bacterial colonisation and consequent biofilm formation in the water lines of patient treatment equipment.
Without a set of cross-infection control hygiene tools and procedures designed to reduce and control this risk as much as possible, bacterial proliferation hazardous to patient health can occur in the dental unit water supply as a result of microorganisms entering the respiratory tract, even through intraoral instrument sprays.
For elderly and immunocompromised patients in particular, the proliferation of Legionella bacterial colonies is a serious health risk.
